  8. CLUE allows various values of

  10. user interface (e.g. colors, fonts, title strings, etc.) to be treated as <#175#><B>resources</B><#175#> which can be stored and retrieved from  a <#176#><B>resource
  11. database</B><#176#><A ID="177"><tex2html_anchor_invisible_mark></A>, using the resource management facilities of
  12. CLX.  User interface values in a resource database can be modified
  13. by a user ``externally,'' without change to the application program.
  14. This provides a consistent mechanism for
  15. contact objects to integrate the preferences of both the interface
  16. programmer and an individual user.
